Lady Rose’s Edwardian Tea Room

Kompas Lincoln Instagram blog (17 August 2016)

Fancy sipping tea and nibbling on a slice of lemon drizzle while being served by an Edwardian butler and maid? If there’s one place in Lincoln you’ll get to fulfil these Downton Abbey-inspired dreams, it’s Lady Rose's Tea Room. This “peaceful and genteel” hideaway on the site of Lincoln’s old Co-op store opened in July. And who’s that serving the tea? Mr and Mrs Gearing, butler and maid to Lady Rose… and also known as steampunks Chris and Nikki Fairey, who’ve proudly moved their pop-up tea room in the Bailgate to this more permanent (and utterly charming) venue. Expect antique furniture and novelties, soothing piano music, and – of course – a select choice of mouthwatering sandwiches, cakes and light meals. We’d recommend the sticky ginger cake filled with Chantilly cream. Or if you’ve got your trip planned more than 24 hours in advance, how about sampling the afternoon teas? One thing to note: the café unfortunately can’t accommodate pushchairs, prams and children under six. Aside from that, everyone’s welcome in this little slice of Edwardian high society. #LadyRose #TeaRoom #EdwardianTeaRooms #EdwardianCafe #DowntonAbbeyStyle #TeaAndCake #StickyGingerCake #LemonDrizzle #LemonDrizzleCake #TimeForTea #AfternoonTea #TeaForTwo #EdwardianStyle #Lincoln #CafeSociety #CafeCulture #VisitLincoln #VisitLincolnshire #AntiqueCafe #Antique #DowntonAbbeyInspired #Kompas #KompasApp
