Tristan the T-Rex @ Naturkundemuseum

Hidden Berlin Instagram feed (28 December 2015)

A very special guest recently rocked up at Berlin’s Natural History Museum (Museum für Naturkunde). One with stacks of history, an enviable reputation… and extremely large teeth. Yep: Tristan the T-Rex has moved in – and he’s planning on sticking around for a while. Tristan Otto (as he’s officially known) is an estimated 66 million years old, and is one of the best preserved Tyrannosaurus rex skeletons ever found. He’s also the ONLY original T-Rex on display in Europe. Tristan was found over in Montana, USA, but he’s certainly making himself at home in Germany’s capital. “Tristan – Berlin Bares Teeth” opened on December 17th and is set to run for at least three years. However, the team at the museum plan to “do our very best to keep [Tristan] a little bit longer," museum director Prof. Johannes Vogel told The Local. Entry to the Museum für Naturkunde is €8 for adults, €5 concession – and with plenty more besides Tristan to check out, it’s an awe-inspiring (if slightly terrifying) way to spend a chilly winter’s day in Berlin. #Naturkunde #MuseumfürNaturkunde #TRex #Tyrannosaurusrex #Tristan #Tristanthetrex #NaturalHistoryMuseum #Dinosaur #Berlin #HiddenBerlin #IgersBerlin #Berlinstagram #TristanOtto #Scary #Fossil
