Cafe Fräulein Dietrich

Hidden Berlin Instagram feed (12 September 2015)

Nestled on one of Prenzlauer Berg’s charming side streets, Café Fräulein Dietrich is a detox for frazzled office workers and tired tourists. The hostess is a whizz at warming lunches and delicious cakes. She’s famed for her hearty soups, served with generous hand and a large bread basket. From curried potato to zucchini and parmesan, they’re a hit with locals, and definitely worth the hype – if you get there before the batch runs out. She also serves up baguettes and scrambled egg dishes, while the counter boasts a mouth-watering array of cookies, croissants and other treats. However, no meal at Fräulein Dietrich would be complete without a slice of her signature cheesecake. Crumbly, moist and wickedly rich, the slices are just €2.40 – making it tempting to have your cake, eat it, and then have another. A visit to Fräulein Dietrich will leave you feeling cheerful, chilled and well fuelled up for whatever the afternoon might bring.
