Exeter University ranked top in the UK for international student experience

The University of Exeter provides the best international student experience of any UK university, according to last week’s Whatuni Student Choice Awards.

Over 20,000 students across the UK voted in the 2015 awards, held on Thursday 23 April.

The votes saw Exeter come first in the prestigious ‘International’ Student Choice category, beating Edinburgh, Oxford, Cambridge and St Andrews.

“It is a tremendous honour for Exeter to win this award, voted for by international students,” said Dr Shaun Curtis, Director of International Exeter. “Exeter prides itself on providing an outstanding experience to students from more than 130 different countries.”

Dr Curtis noted the “very stiff competition from other outstanding UK universities,” adding that the award “provides reassurance to current and future international applicants that their university experience at our campuses in Devon and Cornwall will be second to none.”

The Whatuni student rankings are based entirely on student opinion. In each category, students are invited to give their university a rating from one to five stars. These results are then averaged, and ranking tables produced.

This year’s results were based on over 20,000 ratings and reviews submitted between April 2014 and March 2015.

After coming sixth in the category in the 2014 awards, Exeter’s average score of 4.5 saw it top the tables this year.

The University also came 18th for ‘Uni Facilities,’ and 25th in ‘Clubs & Societies,’ increasing its score in both categories since 2014.
